Where are you coming from?
There are two ways up: leave the car in Lupeni and take the gondola, or drive all the way to the resort on the DJ664A. We'll work out both.
From Lupeni straight up to the resort.
2.5 km of cable and almost 600 m of climb, with cabins leaving one after another from the car park at the bottom. Leave the car in Lupeni and you're up in minutes, with no snow chains and no hunting for a space at the top.

To Petroșani station, then a minibus (about 6 lei) or a taxi to the gondola in Lupeni, roughly 25 km.

The DJ664A in winter
The road from Lupeni up to the resort is about 8 km long and fully surfaced, maintained by Hunedoara County Council. In winter you need winter tyres, and it's wise to carry snow chains. On busy days the car park at the top fills early in the morning and the road is closed; then the gondola is the only way up.
